The Philadelphia edition of the Alumni Association City Lights will be held April 30th at the Acadimy of Natural Sciences. The topic is "The Naked Truth: Why Humans Have No Fur" presented by Professor Nina Jablonski. Humans are the only primates who are mostly naked. The reasons for this are fascinating and have to do with the evolution of “whole-body cooling” through sweating. In this lecture, Dr. Jablonski describes how and when we evolved into hairlessness and how we have compensated for the absence of insulating, protective, and socially expressive fur.
